About Us
Who We Are
What We Do
The Wind River Water & Buffalo Alliance is a coalition of Tribal agencies, Tribal councils, and non-profit organizations working to advance conservation and protect the Indigenous way of life.
This coalition, based on the Wind River Indian Reservation at Fort Washakie, Wyoming, uses a community-centered approach to support food sovereignty, river restoration, buffalo restoration, advocacy, and education.
The Water & Buffalo Alliance exists to protect a way of life. By restoring rivers, expanding Tribal buffalo herds, and supporting food sovereignty, we strengthen connections between the people and the land, the people and each other, and the people and their power.
We envision a world where the environment is healthy, people are flourishing, and our communities, relationships, and connection to the natural world are all rooted in reciprocity.

Partners:
Working together, Wind River Water & Buffalo Alliance partners bring together Tribal and non-Tribal communities and organizations to work in collaboration toward shared goals.
By connecting Tribal youth with opportunities for direct stewardship, connecting Tribal elders with organizations and young people who may benefit from their shared wisdom, advancing the return of buffalo to Tribal lands, restoring our rivers, and educating Tribal communities about their sovereignty and their power, we are bringing our vision to life.
